علم الاقتصاد economics هو العلم الذي يهتم بمشكلة الموارد النادرة أو المحدودة واستعمالها على نحو يسمح بالحصول على أكبر إشباع لحاجات المجتمع غير المحدودة. وهو بعبارة أخرى علم إدارة الموارد المحدودة لتلبية حاجات غير محدودة. فموضوعه هو الثروة الاجتماعية من جهة، وسلوك الإنسان الاقتصادي من جهة ثانية.

يهتم علم الاقتصاد بأحد وجوه النشاط الإنساني في العالم، وهو النشاط الاقتصادي الذي يشتمل على جميع تصرفات الأفراد التي تتصل بكل من الإنتاج والتبادل والاستهلاك والتوزيع، وما يتفرع عنها من ظواهر اقتصادية مثل التنمية والدخل والادخار والاستثمار والتضخم والدورات الاقتصادية والبطالة وغيرها. (more…)

1.1 Economic Activity is Man’s Predominant and Essential Activity

  1. The importance of economic studies is due to the fact that man’s essential and predominant activity is economic.
  2. Although we believe that the material factor is crucial in life and that economics is essential in the orientation of the action of history. we are. however, strongly opposed to the idea which claims that material interests alone determine people’s behavior, and that economics is the key to history.
